A great many students see the prospect of writing an essay as intimidating. For a lot of students, getting started seems to pose the greatest obstacle. If you ask them verbally, What do you want to say?  What do you want to talk about?  What ideas and examples would you use? You can usually get some sensible responses. But when it comes to arranging these pieces, to organising them, students falter.
